Job Description
Manufacturing Engineer for Manufacturing Process Specification (MPS) team and ME Support. Selected candidate will work with Floor Support / Corrective Action ME’s and Manufacturing and Process Engineers to create or updates Manufacturing documents used by Production to support the build process. This role supports the C-130J, F-16, F-35, Special Processes and Fabrication Department in Marietta, GA. Manufacturing Engineers work in close collaboration with the Production and Quality teams with a common goal to improve the safety, schedule, cost, and quality of the production programs. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong technical ability, excellent communication skills and a desire to learn and grow.

In general, a Manufacturing Engineer:
  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling.
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporates inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment working cross functionally with other disciplines including design engineering, manufacturing planning, scheduling, facilities engineering, and/or industrial engineering
Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial) or equivalent experience
  • Professional experience in a manufacturing environment working cross functionally with other disciplines including design engineering, manufacturing planning, scheduling, facilities engineering, and industrial engineering
  • Ability to mentor and teach individuals or small groups
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Experience with C-130J manufacturing and assembly processes
  • Experience with Capital Planning process and requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, and Power Point)

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
