UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate level IT Audio Video Specialist to join Classroom Support in Academic Technology, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

The UFIT Classroom Support team is responsible for the installation, configuration, and support of all Audio, Video, and computer technology in roughly 400+ classrooms and learning spaces across campus. This work includes both on-site and remote real-time support/consultations for faculty and staff.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Provide phone, email, and walk-in technical support for faculty and staff using both computer and audio/visual equipment in Malachowsky Hall for Data Science & Information Technology (DSIT) and other UFIT supported spaces
  • Install and configure complex audio-visual and IT hardware in supported spaces
  • Develop documentation and provide training for peers
  • Evaluate and create standards for new equipment and software
  • Manage Zoom Rooms, Crestron XIO, Scheduling panels, EMS scheduling, public computers, and other Audio-Visual and Information Technology (AV/IT) related hardware and software

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31 when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$21.63 - $24.04; commensurate based on education and experience.



Minimum Requirements:

Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.



Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

  • TEAMWORK - Understanding of the necessity and value of teamwork and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • SERVICE EXCELLENCE - Comprehension of customer service concepts and techniques with the ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
  • TECHNICAL TROUBLESHOOTING - Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques, and the ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems
  • FIELD SUPPORT - Awareness of and experience with providing post-sales support for the implementation and maintenance of hardware products
  • SOFTWARE INSTALLATION AND SUPPORT - Knowledge of and ability to plan and execute software platform changes with minimal service disruption to the client
