Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: Goshen, IN
Job Summary and Mission:
This position works within the foundry plants, working closely with Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service and Quality team members to assist with technical specifications about our products.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, improve, and document foundry processes.
- Analyze process flow to improve product quality, cost reduction, and throughput.
- Provide engineering support to trouble shoot and resolve technical problems.
- Analyze casting defects and develop corrective actions.
- Provide daily engineering technical support for manufacturing operations including, core room, melting, molding, pouring, cleaning, and finishing areas.
- Apply statistical methods to determine and improve process capability, repeatability, first-pass yields, and conformance to quality requirements.
- Assist in the design and layout of tooling systems.
- Develop standard operating procedures, implement procedures, and train associates in their use.
- Monitor process controls and adherence to standards.
Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material Science, or Metallurgy.
- Extensive knowledge of continuous casting processes: melting, pouring, cleaning, cutoff and finishing.
- Experience with the testing and analysis of continuous casting characteristics.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.
- Advanced computer skills which include proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point and 3D solid modeling. AutoDesk Inventor experience a plus.
- Six Sigma Certification is a plus
