Job Description

In anticipation of NASA awarding the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) contract, Dynetics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Leidos, is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to serve as an interface between Dynetics and its major sub-contractor accountable for the development of the Dynetics HLS (DHLS) Crew Module. The successful candidate will serve as a member of a small liaison support office from Dynetics and provide for the exchange of data in support of the design, development, and delivery of the Crew Module to be performed by the sub-contractor. The CM Liaison Senior Engineer will promote the provision of continuity, consistency, and clear communications of data and information needed by the sub-contractor in its efforts to design, develop, and manufacture the Crew Module. The CM Liaison Senior Engineer will assist the subcontractor in its efforts and will also monitor, assess, and evaluate the overall performance of the sub-contractor for technical, schedule, and cost performance. The successful candidate will boost the assessment and documentation of quarterly sub-contract evaluations, and recommendations regarding contract performance indicators to the DHLS Program Manager (PM).

Tasks and objectives of this role include:

  • Assisting the CM Liaison Office lead engineer in providing regular communication with the subcontractor Chief Engineer and Lead Systems Engineer and other technical leads throughout the design team with an emphasis on developing a positive working relationship with all team members.
  • Regularly attend all meetings between Dynetics and the subcontractor to monitor technical information exchange.
  • Monitor sub-contractor performance activity in support of all significant design and development milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, FRR, ORR, etc.)
  • Monitor sub-contractor performance during all AI&T CM, Active-Active Docking Adapter (AADA) and docking mechanism integration activities.
  • Monitor sub-contractor performance and needs for integration activities and end-to-end testing at the Payload Processing Facility (PPF).
  • Develop an appreciation of all sub-systems within the Crew Module and the interface necessities with the ALPACA structure and sub-systems.
  • Promotes the development of subcontract evaluations and provide results summary recommendations to the DHLS PM.

Basic Qualifications

  • Candidates will possess a bachelor’s or graduate degree with a major in either
    • a) Engineering from an institution that has ABET accredited engineering programs
    • or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or other field of physical science.
  • Candidates will have at least 4+ years of applicable past work history in a related aerospace area, to include systems level knowledge of space craft technical disciplines for human spaceflight. This past work should include technical knowledge of spacecraft design and operations, as well as some prior work involving the integration of design and development of integrated spacecraft systems.

Candidates will be residents of the Huntsville AL. area or be willing to relocate to this area.

Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
