Safety Technician


Bilfinger Industrial Services Inc., known as a leading one-stop shop provider for complex industrial services is seeking a Safety Technician at our Inwood, WV location. This position reports to the Site Safety Leader and requires a self-motivated individual to assist with the site’s Environmental, Health and Safety Plan.


Job Responsibilities

  • Advise, coach and lead employees and other contractors to provide an excellent safety culture
  • Conduct safety orientations, educate, and train employees on safe practices, company policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to employee safety and other HS&E topics
  • Prepare and provide various safety training on a regular basis
  • Interface with staff, craft, subcontractors, client contractors, CM’s, client and safety professionals
  • Review existing policies and procedures, and develop improvements as needed
  • Implement innovative HS&E programs and strategies in the areas of behavior-based safety, auditing for compliance, safety management systems, process safety and risk management, high-impact training, and compliance support
  • Provide coaching and support to all site construction field operations
  • Conduct risk assessment & safety inspections of work areas and enforce policies
  • Track, analyze and report safety audit and leading indicators data in tabular and graphical formats and recommend focus areas based on the analysis
  • Lead and participate in incident investigations identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Review and input on construction work plans with management, supervision and contractors
  • Maintain KPI’s and a PDCA developing 90 day and 1 year plans with improvement actions
  • Promote site recognition and rewards programs
  • Represent the Bilfinger Construction Management Organization at site contractor/visitor meetings


Requirements


  • 5 years of experience as a Safety Technician or similar role
  • Ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health related field.
  • Experience in excavation, lifting and rigging, crane operations, demolition, confined space, working at height, steel erection, scaffolding and other construction processes
  • Work permitting experience (elevated work, crane lifts, confined space, excavation, LOTO, etc)
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Conduct data analysis and reporting of statistics with 2-3 years of experience in producing reports
  • Proficient in MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Microsoft Forms and Power BI)
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent team leader and facilitator, with great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to speak comfortably to large group
  • OSHA 30 certification or better safety and health training
  • Current OSHA 500/510/CHST are a plus
  • Qualified to train on Powered Industrial Truck, Aerial & Scissor Lift a plus: Classroom/Functional
  • Requires the ability to walk extensively, climb stairs, and ladders or scaffolds throughout diverse work environments as required by business demands
