Senior Hardware Engineer
Job Description
This position is eligible for a (hybrid) telecommuting schedule / remote after initial training period
Essential Functions
- Assist in researching, developing/designing, modifying, evaluating, and implementing new and existing capabilities into the Launch and Test Range systems
- Primary focus will be on Communication and Internet Protocol (IP) network systems on the Eastern Range
- Support development of system architectures and designs, defining and documenting system requirements for new and existing products and communicate technical requirements to stakeholders
- Analyze technical issues and develop engineering solutions as required to meet system requirements
- Evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products
- Conduct site surveys at Range locations
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers
- Support systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to provide the most appropriate technical solutions
- Prepare technical reports for internal and external customers
- Support a multi-disciplined project team
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, technicians, operators, and Range users
- Conduct/support Unit, Functional, and Product Acceptance testing
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills
- Fundamental knowledge of both Analog and Digital hardware systems
- Fundamental understanding of internet protocol (IP) networks
- General knowledge of Ethernet switches, routers, firewalls, and network protocols.
- Ability to read and understand wire diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Ability to effectively communicate technical issues verbally and through written media such as graphical slides and verbal presentations to management and customers
- Strong organizational and time management skills to balance, plan, prioritize, and execute projects with emphasis on attention to detail
- Good human relations and interpersonal skills to interact with internal and external personnel and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work within a dynamic, fast paced environment with time constraints
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Required Experience
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering or a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)
- Minimum of 2 (two) years’ experience working in an electrical engineering or related engineering field
- Experience with test equipment such as multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Experience working with Windows- and Linux-based computer systems
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must have the flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization
- Valid U.S. Passport, or ability to obtain one
