POSITION SUMMARY
Perform advanced work associated with IT infrastructure & systems administration including installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of IT software and hardware systems. This position, under general supervision is responsible for ensuring the uptime, performance, and resource availability of and other IT systems; matching the organization's resources with the demand placed on them; identifying and resolving problems; upgrading hardware, software, and IT datacenter equipment; IT data center facility operations; and ensuring the quality, accuracy and security of databases. This position is the second level of the Systems Engineer series.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Support virtualized server environments, VMWare View Horizon VDI architecture, Exchange Online, Office 365 portal services, IaaS and print services
- Provide a broad range of design, integration and operational support for a variety of server platforms (primarily Windows), storage and backup environments, and applications/peripherals that support critical County-wide systems. This includes operational support and multi-component functional problem analysis with the authority to initiate corrective actions related to operational incidents, product operation, and installation (subject to change control requirements)
- Work with IT Security Professionals to implement secure solutions for all datacenter resources
- Provide design, implementation and operational support for all County data centers and IT equipment rooms including component power, racking, cabling management, and security
- Participate in technical strategic planning and implementation of new data center projects and technologies to assure County’s uptime needs are continually met
- Support enterprise iSCSI storage environment
- Support chassis-based Cisco UCS environment
- Work with Network operations professionals to configure/support server environments as part of a Cisco ACI enterprise deployment
- Provide advanced consulting services for customer departments regarding computing solutions and client-oriented technology project implementation
- Provide design, implementation and operational support for all County data centers and IT equipment rooms including component power, racking, cabling management, and security
- Participate in technical strategic planning and implementation of new data center technologies to assure County’s uptime needs are continually met
- On-call after hours and weekend support is required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible technical systems experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience supporting MS Exchange such as creating a shared calendar or mailbox, adding new users, and general administration duties
- Cisco UCS and VMware Horizon
- Familiarity with relay servers
- Patching and upgrade experience
