Entry-Level Software Engineer (605452)
Job Description
Full-time position working out of Progeny Systems Manassas, Virginia. Candidate will work on an integrated product development team which includes representatives from multiple contracting organizations and Naval entities. The work involves software and systems engineering of our Bulk Data Transfer Service (BDTS), a fielded application to support cyber-secure file- and directory-based transfers.
The candidate will be responsible for numerous software and system engineering activities for BDTS as well as supporting the testing lead with testing activities. The split between development and testing work will fluctuate based on needs within the Agile lifecycle.
General areas of responsibility include:
- Participation in the software engineering lifecycle, from requirements gathering/decomposition, technical design documentation and creating/reviewing test-related documentation
- Design, development, testing and delivery of BDTS software artifacts
- Test case development, execution and reporting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requirements:
o Knowledge of and/or experience using Java (v17 preferred)
o Familiarity with Linux
o Familiarity with Virtualization
o Desire to work within the entire Agile software engineering lifecycle
o A quick learner and adaptable to new technologies
o Good oral and written communication skills
Desired Skills:
o Knowledge of and/or experience using Nginx or Tomcat
o Knowledge of and/or experience using Google Web Toolkit
o Knowledge of and/or experience using REST-based interfaces
o Experience with Atlassian tools suite for Agile-based software development
Education/Experience
o BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
o 0-4 years of professional experience
o Willing to travel occasionally within Continental United States (CONUS
Security Clearance
This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance.
