Your Specific Responsibilities:

    • Mops/vacuums all interior areas daily. Examples of this include: clinical areas, exam rooms, offices, and lobbies.
    • Cleans and stocks restrooms daily and maintains and orders replenishment of custodial supplies for all areas.
    • Maintains main entries in neat, acceptable standard to present a good image of Department of Health and in accordance with established standards identified by supervisor.
    • Uses, mixes, and stores chemicals in accordance with safe and proper procedures.
    • Performs floor maintenance, sanitation, and environmental support services, and keeps the facility clean.
    • Handles and disposes biomedical waste in accordance with established standards.
    • Disposes of yard waste and ensures grounds are maintained to acceptable standards. This includes use of common yard tools.
    • Inspects work areas to determine work required. Performs light maintenance and repair functions
    • Replaces light bulbs and air filters in accordance with established schedules and performs other light maintenance associated with the custodial duties. Examples include: use of power tools, hand tools, etc.
    • Performs other duties, as assigned, and at locations as needed, during emergency and non-emergency situations.
    • May be responsible for properly transporting vaccines and other emergency supplies to various locations throughout the county, including Central Stores and hurricane shelters.
    • Must respond to maintenance emergencies, including after hours and in preparation for inclement weather.
    • Maintains regular contact with his immediate supervisor and the Clinic supervisor on all matters relating to building habitability and maintenance issues.

Qualifications:

Minimum –

  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
  • Driver’s License
  • Able to lift at least 40 pounds unaided and up to 150 pounds using mechanical devices
  • Able to stand on a ladder, reach out above your head, stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, lift, carry, crawl, or bend on a frequent basis to perform maintenance duties

Preferred-

  • Cleaning experience
  • Microsoft Outlook experience
