As a Quality Software Engineer I, your job is to join in that mission, with a team of other tenacious engineers, to learn how to write code by supporting multiple projects across the enterprise to help ensure high quality performance of our systems and solutions. Your goal is to learn to engineer automated testing solutions, operating within a defined level of latitude, using established technologies and frameworks. We help ensure the quality that makes building fantastic H-E-B Digital solutions possible – and we are incredibly proud of that.

  • Demonstrate an interest in learning architectural technologies, such as Android, iOS, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Engineering or Computer Science, or relevant work experience.

What You'll Do
  • Engage with more senior Engineers to develop solid software testing techniques and an understanding of various technologies and processes.
  • Learn to write code to automate testing for microservices, APIs, REST or UI features of a system to help improve our customers’ and Partners’ user experience.
  • Learn to troubleshoot test failures and communicate the results, identifying bugs and flaky tests.
  • Develop an understanding of the testing frameworks and architecture for our enterprise systems, including Partner facing applications, customer facing sites and mobile applications.
  • Engage in and support the build and deployment pipeline for lower-level environments.
  • Participate and develop a solid understanding of the overall test coverage strategy, for teams and applications supported.
  • Engage in and help improve the software delivery lifecycle by evangelizing a test-driven approach to software engineering.

Do you have what it takes?
  • General understanding of various software testing processes and techniques.
  • Familiarity with the process for coding, executing and documenting results of automated testing.
  • Familiarity with automation and performance testing and associated tools and frameworks.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Solid verbal / written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prepare / present quality-specific information to peers with sufficient notice and preparation time.
  • Ability to influence peers.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the work environment.
  • Ability to work in an open office work environment.
  • Passion for quality and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
