The AGC Datacenter Operations (DCOps) team has a sharp focus on serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions. As the CE Electrical Engineer on the AGC DCOps team, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s dedicated online services supporting the U.S. Government.

While the AGC DCOps team is dedicated to serving our U.S. Government customers and helping them achieve federal missions, together, all of Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 160 datacenters hosting millions of servers. Responsibilities

As a Critical Environment Electrical Engineer your responsibilites include:
  • A strong desire and capability to learn, grow, and develop new skills
  • Empower a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center activities
  • Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems
  • Understand the design and functionality of your datacenter
  • Support 24x7x365 on-site datacenters operations and electrical infrastructure
  • Act as the technical authority for on-site operations related to a large-scale mission critical electrical system, design, and functionality
  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, maintaining highly redundant electrical designs
  • Managing the electrical infrastructures throughout datacenter campus ranging from a single, large-capacity facility to several smaller ones
  • Ability to create operating procedures (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs) for critical environment planned and unplanned work activities

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience
    • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering experience
  • Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code
Background Check Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • To promote health and safety in the workplace, employees are subject to required health related screenings, such as hearing testing, which includes both baseline testing and annual retests, where permitted by applicable law.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.
  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
    • Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid license to drive standard street-legal automatic transmission vehicles within local jurisdiction
  • Solid understanding of critical datacenter CE equipment
  • Strong experience with the operation and maintenance of building electrical systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, and controls systems)
  • Established understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment:
  • Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.
  • Understanding of maintenance & operation of critical environment backup electrical equipment. (Diesel generators, radiator, ventilation systems, fuel storage, distribution, & protection systems, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)
  • Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks

Electrical Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
