We are seeking a Packaging Engineer I to join our manufacturing organization at Abiomed. The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for developing, designing, and implementing packaging solutions for our medical device products, ensuring that they are safe, efficient, and cost-effective. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in packaging engineering, as well as experience working in a team-based environment.


Principle Duties & Responsibilities
:

  • Design, develop, and validate packaging solutions for medical devices, in compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Conduct testing and analysis of packaging materials and design configurations to ensure that they meet requirements for product protection, stability, and sterility
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory Affairs, to develop packaging strategies for new product launches and existing products
  • Manage packaging projects from concept to commercialization, including overseeing timelines, budgets, and resources
  • Identify and implement improvements to packaging designs, materials, and processes to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for potential packaging issues that could impact product quality or patient safety
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends and regulatory changes related to packaging and provide recommendations for continuous improvement and innovation


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 1+ years of experience in packaging engineering, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Strong understanding of packaging materials, design, and testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 11607 and FDA requirements for medical device packaging
  • Ability to support and manage packaging projects from concept to commercialization
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation
