Job Description

Are you inspired by challenging the status quo? Do you thrive in collaborative environments that drive results? If so, Gates could be for you.

Gates is a leading manufacturer of application-specific fluid power and power transmission solutions. We push the boundaries of material science to engineer solutions that continually exceed customer expectations.

Let's simplify it, think belts and hoses. Found in motorcycles, conveyor belts, cars, tractors, blenders, vacuum cleaners, bicycles, & 3D printers just to name a few. Because why not do it all?

WHAT TO EXPECT

As an innovation leader, we look for ambitious, forward thinking, open-minded and well-rounded individuals to join our global team. Located in our Englewood office, we are seeking a CAE Simulation Engineer.

  • This position is responsible for providing advanced modeling and simulation support to innovation efforts including using Computer Aided Engineering tools (for example: Finite Element Analysis or Computational Fluid Dynamics) and internal analytical methods. This includes the development, application of, and integration of the tools within a growing global organization.
  • Your fit in the organization will be reporting to the manager of data analytics and simulation and be part of a global team working with development teams located around the world.
  • This is an exciting opportunity for you because typical projects include working with existing product development groups to expedite product development through failure analysis, evaluation of new products through simulation of tests and applications and proposing new designs to meet product requirements.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Product development using CAE tools.
    • The specific CAE tools include finite element analyses, multi-body dynamics, and other engineering software tools.
  • Researching and developing of new analytical methods of evaluating systems, products, and materials.
    • This includes the creation of new test methods, new analytical methods, and new software.
  • Increasing self-proficiency in a particular analytical tool (such as finite element analysis, or multi-body dynamics), and in applicable technical areas (mechanics of elastomeric composites, power transfer systems, and product fatigue).

ABOUT YOU

  • 2+ years of engineering experience within the areas of product development, design engineering, or analysis.
  • BS or MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with focus on applied mechanics and computer aided engineering.
  • Experience with advanced finite element analysis, multi-body dynamic software, or computational fluid dynamics.
    • This experience should include at least one of the following: non-linear analysis (contact, material, or geometrical), transient and steady state heat transfer, dynamics, elastomeric composites, extrusion, compression molding, or product life predictions. Prefer experience with at least one of the following: MSC.MARC, MSC.NASTRAN NONLINEAR, MSC.SIMUFACT, MSC.APEX, ANSYS CFD, FLUENT, ANSYS POLYFLOW, or ABAQUS (SIMULIA).
  • Experience with programming languages, MATLAB, MATHCAD, or other equivalent engineering computational tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform analysis results into product design changes.
  • Strong proficiency with calculation tools.
  • Has good listening skills, builds strong relationships, is flexible/open-minded, negotiates effectively, solicits performance feedback and handles constructive criticism. Builds collaborative relationships, shares knowledge and is aware of how individual actions impact others.
