The Opportunity:
Do you want to play a part in global efforts to enhance our understanding of the Earth’s changing atmosphere and climate to help address one of the nation’s top priorities, the current climate crisis? Do you want to build and deliver a powerhouse system that will enhance atmospheric science research? You know a good application is more than just a nice-looking interface and data and you need the right combination of clean code, application programming interfaces (APIs), analytics, and infrastructure to help your team build a user-focused solution. As a software developer, you’ll grow your skills and solve a problem with a complete end-to-end solution in a fast-paced, agile environment. We’re looking for someone like you to build earth science applications from vision to production-ready systems.
This is an opportunity to address global challenges and make an impact on missions by building earth science applications with user-centric design for a major earth science data center in Hampton, Virginia responsible for science data vital to understanding the causes of global climate change and the consequences of human activities on the climate. You’ll work with a development team to ensure accessibility, security, and useability for all worldwide users including scientists, educators, decision-makers, and the public. With mentoring, positive code reviews, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our clients.

You Have:
- 2+ years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and relational databases, including PostgreSQL or SQL
- 2+ years of experience working with web APIs
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker containers, or microservices architecture
- Ability to apply agile and software development life cycle (SDLC) principles
- Ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with organizational leadership, IT system administrators, software developers, and various other stakeholders
- Ability to develop requirements based on user feedback and develop software and system documentation
- Ability to collaborate with other developers as a member of an agile team
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree
Nice If You Have:
- Experience with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP)
- Experience with Gitlab or continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) technologies
- Experience in DevOps environments and with DevOps principles
- Experience using CSS frameworks, Bootstrap, PHP, Vue.js, Node.js, or Express.js
- Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
- Experience with building applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS) or onboarding other applications to AWS
- Experience with AWS Simple Storage Solution (S3) or AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
- Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or business information systems, or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or business information systems
- An Agile or Scaled Agile, and AWS Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $49,800.00 to $102,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. Work Model
