About the Role
We are open to hiring at either the Software Development Engineer or the Senior Software Development Engineer level depending on the skills and experience of the selected candidate.
We are the UI teams at Workday - primarily responsible for delivering new platform capabilities to our customers (internal and external) with our unique framework which provides customers a place where they can find a complete view of their functional area. We are engineers with a customer-first mentality; our development teams include client and server engineers in one agile scrum team.
Workday User Interface is generated dynamically from metadata. Our engineers focus on building beautiful user experiences without worrying about the application logic. Built on modern, standards-based technologies, UI is meticulously crafted in continuous deployment mode to customers using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
This is an opportunity to be part of the team that builds UI frameworks to power the Workday user experience for millions of people every day. As a full-stack Software Engineer within UI Platform teams, you will:

Collaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation and implementation of new features including interfaces/contracts with storage systems, data transformation and handoff to front end technology.

Be part of an agile development team, work with fellow engineers of various subject areas (metadata, client, server, etc), product managers and QA engineers to deliver customer-centric features on the Workday UI.

Collaboratively develop solutions using the latest technologies including React and Java.

Contribute ideas for continually improving the team’s efficiency, job enjoyment, and code quality.
About You
P3 Basic Qualifications
-
3+ years of coding experience with front-end development using React/Javascript/Typescript and implementing component-based UI architectures and/or combination of 3+ years of coding experience with server-side development using Java/Kotlin/Scala as the primary language and exposure to related technologies like Spring.

Strong programming skills using Object-Oriented Principles in web application development.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent fields
P4 Basic Qualifications

5+ years of coding experience with front-end development using React/Javascript/Typescript and implementing component-based UI architectures and/or combination of 5+ years of coding experience with server-side development using Java/Kotlin/Scala as the primary language and exposure to related technologies like Spring.

Strong programming skills using Object-Oriented Principles in web application development

3+ years of leading technical initiatives within team or department

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent fields
Other Qualifications

Proven experience of designing and leading features with strong focus on non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, maintenance, etc.)

Experience in technical mentorships, i.e., helping other engineers grow their skills.

Experience driving cross-team dependencies and projects.

Hands-on with testing, build automation, continuous deployments, and monitoring, in addition to design and implementation of large enterprise web applications.

Ability to balance urgency with shipping high-quality and pragmatic solution.

Proven track record to work on features involving multiple platforms / teams.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Self-motivator and a strong sense of ownership

Experience on RESTful web service development is a plus.

GWT experience is a plus.
