Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer for the The Office of Information Technology (OIT). The Application Developer designs and implements integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, including Informatica, Heroku, and Salesforce. Additional tasks related to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of supported web-based applications will also be performed.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Will be responsible for producing technical documentation when requested and ensure all code changes and updates are properly documented according to the university’s standards.
  • Suggests technology solutions to business challenges under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Associate Director of IT.

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience with 3 or more years of relevant work experience.

Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Excellent at communicating and explaining complex concepts in layman’s terms.
  • Able to prioritize, schedule, and complete development, configuration, and testing required for multiple projects with overlapping schedules.
  • Able to meet with clients to manage tasks and translate requirements into technical work action items.
  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment.
  • Proficient in object-oriented programming (such as Python, Java).
  • Experience with web technologies (such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST, AJAX, JSON).
  • Proficient in relational database management systems (such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with cloud computing technologies (such as AWS, Heroku, Informatica, Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with Serverless design patterns and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledgeable in version control with Git and GitLab.
  • Knowledgeable in integrating with RESTful and/or SOAP based web services/APIs.
  • Knowledgeable in JavaScript frameworks (such as React, jQuery, Vue.js, Node.js).
  • Experience with web development frameworks (such as Django, Spring).
  • Experience with enterprise architecture, systems design, database management systems, and emerging web technologies.
  • Experience with object oriented (OO) design and systems development in a LINUX/UNIX and networked environment.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
