Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of systems engineering design for intelligent and advanced transportation and transit management systems, automated and connected vehicles, and have a comprehensive understanding of the principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices/standards
- Understanding of Advanced Traffic Management Systems, Connected Vehicles, Electronic Toll Collection, CCTV surveillance systems, electronic signage, traffic detectors, automated incident detection, video wallboards, transport-based telephony,
- Automatic Vehicle Locators (AVL), Traffic Signals, Transit Signal Priority, Adaptive Signal Control, and communication networks
- Knowledge of information and communications technology (ICT) systems architecture evaluation and design
- Familiarity with big data storage, processing, and analytics in a transportation management context
- Understanding of network security/design and controls systems design
- Experience with communications, including fiber, telco, and wireless
- Complete site visits, evaluate and analyze existing systems
- Develop reports and plans based on project analyses and assessments
- Attend project meetings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil, Electrical, Computer Engineering/Science or similar; Masters degree is a plus
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
- 5 years of systems engineering design/deployment experience in ITS and ICT
- Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD is a plus
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
- Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
- Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
- Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
- Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
