The 3D Systems site in Littleton, Colorado is expanding rapidly and needs an Application Development Engineer. The mission of the team is to accelerate the development of advanced applications and innovative additive manufacturing solutions, for 3DS, for their clients and the society as a whole. The Application Development Engineer is responsible for interfacing with customers to help facilitate the application development engineering as regulated by the ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100 and global requirements such as FDA, FAA, QSR, MDD and various other aerospace regulations. This position is responsible for supporting the development and execution of manufacturing processes and quality systems in accordance with internal guidelines as well as customer driven requirements.
In this job, you will not only cooperate with your program management, manufacturing, quality and application engineering colleagues world-wide but you can also rely on the knowledge and experience of colleagues from other 3D Systems divisions.
In your role as Application Development Engineer, you are a central point of contact for customer projects (make or buy) assigned to you within the organization. You are involved in new application development projects from the start where your technical knowledge and expertise are essential for their success. You are a steward of the project, along with your project team, through the application development lifecycle. You are capable of assessing customer requirements, using a project management approach you define and delivering your projects in time and within budget.
What You Will Do:
The following performance objectives will determine job success for this position:
- Execute Application Development Engineering Processes:
- Remain current and proficient with US and international medical device and aerospace regulations.
- Execute product realization and project management processes to deliver innovation quickly and with excellent quality.
- Understand and use Design Controls and product development processes to ensure compliance and develop thorough, high quality, robust products and processes.
- Support sales meetings from a technical point of view and support trade shows.
- Develop and maintain product development and design transfer procedures.
- Application Development Engineering:
- Manage individual portfolio of active and pipeline development projects.
- Participate in customer project meetings and lead efforts to translate and understand part, project, and validation/certification requirements.
- Collaborate with quality engineers, manufacturing engineers and customer engineering teams to deliver the optimal solution to the customer.
- Following internal procedures for product development, collaborate with project teams in the development of new applications through to design transfer or technical transfer to internal or external customers.
- Develop documentation for the manufacture of product using industry standards and best practices. Ensure all documentation is implemented via the formal document control system.
- Participate in the transfer of new projects into Manufacturing. Follow developed processes and projects through design transfer and into the first year of volume production.
- Report progress and status of projects along with PMO on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to the Application Development Engineering Manager of Application Innovation Group.

What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor degree, preferably in engineering.
- 0-2 years of related work experience in regulated, cGMP environment such as medical device, aerospace, pharmaceutical or food manufacture.
- Quality assurance and reliability experience supporting product development and/or manufacturing are preferred.
- Experience in a highly regulated environment such as aerospace (AS9100) or medical device (ISO 13485) is a plus
- Ability to read and design engineering specifications across a number of products and materials.
- Ability to analyze and develop engineering processes for use in advanced technology implementations
- A strong commitment to providing excellent customer service
- Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
What You Want To Know:
- Salary Range: $76,400 - $91,700 annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the candidate, and alignment with market data)
- In addition to a salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus based upon company performance.
