The Unconventional Reservoir Engineering role for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Reservoir Engineering team at the company’s Houston, TX office reporting to the Unconventional Function Lead. This person will work with a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the assessment and development of Apache’s domestic assets.
This role will be primarily responsible for the following:
Use unconventional reservoir engineering techniques and methodologies to inform and optimize field development and reservoir recovery;
Integrate rate and pressure transient analysis, material balance, decline curve and volumetric analyses into reservoir evaluation;
Build reservoir simulation models when appropriate to validate/improve predictions and quantify uncertainty;
Work with integrated team to develop and optimize completion, stimulation, and lift design;
Apply probabilistic forecasting to both existing wells and new drills, to be utilized in decision trees and appraisal program assessments and valuations;
Plan and execute drilling programs with multi-disciplinary team;
Analyze well tests and use surveillance techniques to assess well/field performance;
Help evaluate strategic acquisition/trade/divestiture opportunities;
Perform basic economic analyses and sensitivities as needed; and
Provide justification and documentation for new reserve bookings. Qualifications & Experience
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
BS in Petroleum Engineering (or related engineering degree);
minimum of 6 years of reservoir engineering experience with E&P Company;
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with multi-disciplinary team;
Experience building a development plan incorporating operational constraints associated with simultaneous operations, surface limitations for full field development, lift mechanism, and product takeaway capacity;
Experience assessing risk and uncertainty in unconventional reservoirs including the effect of depletion, inter well/bench spacing, and frac design on total value and hydrocarbon recovery;
Experience in evaluating and proposing data collection plans including but not limited to wireline log data, fiber optic, DFIT, oil allocation and interference tests for exploration, appraisal, and development phases of unconventional reservoirs;
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and consistently meet project deadlines;
Must be detail-oriented;
Self-starter and able to accomplish tasks with minimal supervision;
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to present to executive-level audience; and
Experience using database, engineering, and geoscience software, including Harmony, StimPlan, ResFrac, PetroVR, Spotfire, Mosaic. Competencies
