Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Hardware Engineer – Sustainment/Installation to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located out of Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
Sustainment staff position reporting directly to the Fielding Lead under the Task Order 60, Task Order 38 and Task Order 2 Managers. The position requires the ability to plan, implement, and participate in sustaining engineering, fielding and logistics activities. The candidate will lead multiple activities to include review projects for sustaining engineering impacts, track and prioritize Service Requests, and implement improved approaches to tracking maintenance actions. The candidate must have the ability to plan, organize, control and execute the deployment of the C2BMC system to Combatant Commanders locations at both CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Essential Functions:
- The candidate will participate in multiple projects from initial planning and site surveys, through on-site installation at the COCOMs.
- Focus areas include developing fielding and installation plans, instructions and detailed schedules, monitoring equipment design and build through production, organization and execution of ship readiness reviews, delivering of products and spares to the sites, and managing the on-site installation and checkout.
- The candidate will also support logistics activities within the O&S IPT such as reviewing sustainment plans, planning for deployments, and generating operating processes.
- This position requires coordinating closely across other functional areas on the National Team, as well as the government counterparts at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
- The candidate should have working knowledge of DoD Command and Control, C4I, or weapon systems deployment.
- Candidates are subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Basic Qualifications:
If applicable, please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume.
- An active Secret clearance is required.
- 5 Years with Bachelor’s degree in a related field; 9 years’ experience in lieu of a degree.
- Sustaining Engineering, Logistics, Fielding, process identification and implementation, self-starter, demonstrated interpersonal communications skills, able to work with minimal supervision, ability to multi-task, experience working with diverse site locations.
- Must have the ability to install racks on raised floors, perform rack interconnect wiring, install and cable individual subcomponents within racks, install monitors/KVM/workstation solutions at various user locations, generate test procedures, perform acceptance testing, coordinate other Cross Functional Product Teams efforts required to complete an installation, and provide daily status reporting.
- Sustaining engineering, fielding (equipment installation), logistics, supply support and trouble tickets.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working with deployed forces at remote locations and understanding international cultures is a plus.
