Software Engineer, ATI/R&D
Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the discovery, development and delivery of software applications. Provides subject matter expertise, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. This role is responsible for defining, developing, licensing, purchasing, integrating, testing, analyzing and/or delivering advanced technology software for the next generation of Universal attractions and systems. To achieve these responsibilities, they are expected to perform technical writing, creating specifications, vendor selection, vendor management and coordination with internals and external teams. This creative technologist will identify disruptive innovation and be charged with the technical product delivery across attraction, projects and platforms for example artificial intelligence, digital twins, interactives or mixed reality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops the software from conception to final delivery. Contribute to design and implementation of applications, systems, and components in support of new Universal Creative work. Participate in hardware, network, and/or electronic architecture and technical reviews for various teams for inputs and to provide guidance for areas of risk or scope gaps. Works with Engineering & Safety, Facility & Construction team and contractors to ensure a clear line of technical understanding in regarding installation, system integration, test, and adjust activities.
- Manage processes assigned to discover, architect, develop, and/or deliver scopes for software systems, including mockups and proof-of-concepts. Develops and oversees project schedules and budgetary demands. Manage contracts released to vendors. Participate in the entire contracting process from initiation to close-out.
- Develops software. Codes, develops, installs, and/or tests software systems, including mockups and proof-of-concepts.
- Leads design and production reviews at vendor locations ensuring product quality, specification conformance, and schedule accuracy. Manage modifications to software systems as required based upon design and field conditions. Drive technical improvements across attraction, projects and platforms.
- Strong technical knowledge to provide software guidance to project teams in support of the design, development and delivery of themed entertainment ride and show systems.
- Stay up to date with the latest in technology and industry trends and introduce new technology concepts. Particularly as it relates to protecting the intellectually property associated with the implementation of emerging technologies.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Individual contributor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in applicable technical field required or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience, Advanced Degree or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience
EXPERIENCE: 5+ years’ experience in direct theme park specific technical/engineering roles preferred or similar experience in related technical field.
