Position Overview
The KU Achievement & Assessment Institute (AAI) is hiring for a Software Developer. The primary responsibilities of this position include designing and developing next generation learning solutions that are cross platform compatible. This position is responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing enhancements to all enterprise class web applications used by K-12 schools nationwide to facilitate and enhance the student learning process. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mindset and a focus on quality.

- Analyze, design, maintain and test React or Java/J2EE based applications.
- Evaluate requirements, work closely with clients to develop a so
- lid software design, and then develop the technical specifications documenting the required change/enhancement. From the documentation, develop code and unit test all code prior to turning over to QA.
- Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of intangible variance factors.
- Use working knowledge of related disciplines to provide solutions to a range of problems and ensure solutions and/or changes are implemented.

- Participate in design and code reviews of teammate changes.
- Provide feedback on their approach in a timely fashion.
- Makes recommendations on technical problems and methods.
- Provide technical leadership/mentoring to junior developers as they work to complete their assignments.
Position Requirements
- This position allows for a hybrid work location for well-qualified candidates.
- This position will require attendance at regularly scheduled meetings either onsite or through telecommunication platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1 year of related experience OR Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years' experience with React.js, Javascript, HTML, CSS or Java, JDBC, J2EE technologies such as Servlets, JSP.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with common front-end development tools such as Babel, Webpack, NPM, etc.
- Experience using Git
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with Node.js and frameworks such as Express, Restify
- Familiarity with SQLs, Functions, Stored Procedures for Relational database systems such as PostgreSQL, or MySQL, or Oracle or other database systems.
