ENGINEER I - UTILITIES
Job Description

Provides plan reviews for new development plans for compliance to City and other regulatory agencies for water, sanitary sewer, reclaimed water, and related site work.

Responsible for being familiar with Plant City standard details, reviewing plans, and making recommendations for revision.

Assist with development review, including review of hydraulic modeling and lift station calculations.

Provides reviews for project submittals and as-builts.

Performs construction observation to determine compliance with specifications and approved design plans.

Review the material submittals for CIP projects, replacement and rehabilitation (R&R) projects, and developer projects, and inspect the construction material in the field/project site.

Conducts field engineering and performs construction inspections of CIP projects, R&R projects, and developer projects.

Performs condition assessments of the existing infrastructure. Assists in the development of asset management plan for R&R project.

Meets with and provides guidance to the public, consulting engineers, developers, utilities, and other staff on City development regulations and Engineering guidelines.

Organizes and leads project meetings.

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil / Environmental Engineering.

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Knowledge of the field testing, sampling, and investigation techniques and procedures.

Detail-oriented skill to pay attention to details and able to deliver high quality and accurate work.

Ability to read and accurately interpret plans and technical specifications.
-
Ability to write technical specifications and correspondence with various entities.

Ability to understand work from oral and written instructions.
-
Ability to exercise independent judgment in assigning and coordinating work assignments.

Ability to conduct virtual meetings.
-
Working knowledge of AutoCad, Microsoft 365, ARCGIS, Adobe Acrobat, and other engineering related software is a plus.

Skill in using analytical software including spreadsheet.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other City employees and the public.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related field.

Three (3) years of engineering experience, preferred.
Engineering in Training Certificate (EIT) is preferable, but not required.
