work on the development of Intravascular Ultrasound Systems. As a member of an international cross-functional team, you work closely together with electrical engineers, transducer engineers, system engineers, and ultrasound engineers.

You are responsible for

  • Being a key contributor to the development of diagnostic disposable devices and capital equipment
  • Conceptualizing, designing, developing and sustaining FPGAs and digital PCBAs in the field of medical ultrasound.
  • Interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams consisting of marketing, hardware, software, catheter design, and manufacturing to refine design requirements for next generation intravascular ultrasound devices.
  • Specifying and qualifying appropriate components, equipment, and design tools based on documented analysis of design specifications, costs, availability and reliability. Integrate into new and existing designs.
  • Performing tests and debugging of designs with documentation aligned with the quality system.
  • Generating and releasing design documentation per production development procedures.
  • Leading, generating and conducting formal verification and validation plans for completed designs in collaboration with Quality and Regulatory.
  • Actively participating in the transfer of designs from R&D to Manufacturing.
  • Conducting technical design reviews with the project team(s) and independent subject matter experts across the company.

You are part of

A global, cross-functional technical team responsible for the design, development, and implementation of Intravascular Ultrasound products. You are a member of the Ultrasound Engineering team.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 + years experience in design and development of digital electronics and FPGAs preferably in the field of medical electronics.
  • Experience using FPGA design tools, schematic capture software, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators and other lab equipment to test and debug electronic designs involving multiple PCBs and subassemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications, drawings, manufacturing instructions and technical analyses.
  • Industry experience creating detailed design documentation (specifications, design descriptions, verification and testing plans).
  • Experience with Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and signal integrity testing to international standards.
  • Experience using Engineering Change Order (ECO) release process and document management/PLM systems.
  • Experience applying IEC 60601-1 and related medical device electronics standards is desirable.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and highly matrixed organization
  • Familiarity with cardiac and vascular catheterization procedures, tools, and terminology desired
  • Capability to work in a fast paced, regulated environment, with strict adherence to a quality system
  • Demonstrated skill in solving problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written, in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties including Company management and outside business associates
