Job Description

We are seeking a Water Engineer for a 12+ month contract opportunity (with likely extension and/or conversion to perm) located in Orlando, Florida for a government agency.

The Water Engineer will assist the Water Engineering Manager with engineering business goals and functions such as consultant and contractor procurement, agreements, and budgets.

Tasks:

  • Performs analyses to determine type, size, quantity, timing, and cost of long-range water system infrastructure improvements, including production, transmission, and distribution networks.
  • Applies advanced and diverse knowledge of engineering principles in the design, implementation, or compliance of economical, safe, reliable, and efficient utility systems. Review plans and specifications for compliance with OUC design guidelines.
  • Recommends and discusses plan and specification design changes with field departments. Coordinate with Water Production and Water Distribution Construction and Maintenance groups. Ability to work with little supervision.

Ideal Candidate will have working knowledge of some of the following:

  • Construction activities, equipment, and operational practices.
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps, municipal property appraiser maps, google maps, and other maps references.
  • Engineering plans, specifications, permit drawings, and surveys.
  • Consultant and contract proposal requests, including technical specifications.
  • Consultant’s Competitive Negotiation Act Florida Statute.
  • Project management including budgeting, scheduling, and cost estimating; o Billing and technical reports.
  • Invoices and other Purchasing procurement documents;
  • Adjacent municipal waste and reclaimed water system(s)
  • Computer simulation hydraulic model (infowater)
  • Software Applications (i.e. AutoCAD, purchasing procurement internal programs);
  • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices, and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or university.
