Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Structural Design Engineer / Principal Structural Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on our Vehicle Engineering department. This position is located in Melbourne, Florida, and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites. This position can be filled at either level based on qualifications listed below.
Job Summary:
The Structural Design Engineer utilizes the NX-TeamCenter tool suite in the design of primary and secondary aircraft structural parts, assemblies, and installations using metallic and/or composite materials for new aircraft design and/or modifications to existing aircraft. Engineers work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages.
Basic Qualifications:
Structural Design Engineer requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in structural design OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline
Principal Structural Design Engineer requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5+ years of related professional/military experience to include a background in structural design OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related professional/military experience to include a background in structural design
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance plus Special Access Program (SAP) clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Current active clearance
Degree discipline in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
Experience designing aircraft structure
Proficiency with NX Solid Modelling
Proficiency with TeamCenter
