Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems Sector has an opening for a Principal or Senior Principal Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in our Vehicle Engineering department. This position is in Melbourne, Florida and will support E-2D Advanced Hawkeye. CURRENT CLEARANCE NOT REQUIRED.
Responsibilities Include:
Perform static, dynamic, and DaDT structural analyses of metallic airframe structure, mechanical systems, and equipment, by hand and by using the automated methods and procedures approved for the program
Develop and document detailed structural analyses in support of drawing release or aircraft repairs including but not limited to free body diagrams, internal or external loading, shear and moment diagrams, and calculation of internal stresses
Prepare detailed and summary reports that are thorough, well thought out, and of a high quality
Utilize tools such as FEMAP, NX, Teamcenter and other software applications
The successful candidate will be able to collaborate in a team environment, prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result, prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously, and comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
This requisition may be filled as either a Principal Engineer (level 3) or Senior Principal Engineer (level 4) based on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Structural Analysis Engineer: BS in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5+ years relevant experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis; OR MS in a relevant STEM discipline and 3+ years relevant experience, to include a background in aerospace structural analysis; OR Ph.D. in a relevant STEM discipline and 1+ years relevant experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
Sr. Principal Structural Analysis Engineer: BS in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9+ years relevant experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis; OR MS in a relevant STEM discipline and 7+ years relevant experience, to include a background in aerospace structural analysis; OR Ph.D. in a relevant STEM discipline and 4+ years relevant experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis experience to include a background in aerospace structural analysis
Ability obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering
Experience NAVAIR programs
Aerospace structural analysis experience using NASTRAN, PATRAN, or FEMAP
Experience with analysis of metallic structure and repair methods
Experience supporting manufacturing/maintenance activities
Analysis experience in a MRB role
Experience with durability and damage tolerance (DaDT) of aircraft structures
Experience with aircraft spectrum and loads development
