Vice President, Detection & Response Engineering

About the Team

Our Detection & Response practice comprises technology and services that keep thousands of customers throughout the world safe from cyber threats. That technology includes InsightIDR, a leading cloud-based Detection & Response platform that processes billions of events a day, detecting cyber attacks and helping our customers repel attackers before they do real harm. The InsightIDR Engineering organization works closely with Product Management and other teams across Rapid7 to set technical strategy, develop improvements and integrations for our technology platform, and evolve our offerings to meet the changing needs of our customers.

About the Role

The Vice President, Detection & Response Engineering is a critical role for the success of Rapid7’s evolving security strategy. We are seeking a proven technology visionary and leader who not only loves all things technical, but is passionate about growing the capabilities of engineering teams. This person must be a collaborative team player who can work across Rapid7 and maintain a laser focus on the success of our customers.

In this role, you will:

• Define and oversee the InsightIDR engineering strategy

• Partner with teams across Rapid7 to create consistency in development practices and realize a true platform vision

• Advance InsightIDR into the future by leading development for integration with emerging technologies

• Foster a culture of excellence and accountability, with a high degree of alignment and speed without sacrificing quality

• Work as an effective leader across Rapid7, and collaborate with peers to translate business priorities into a technical agenda

• Be a trusted and respected voice to Rapid7 customers, partners, and the security community

• Set the standard for secure, reliable, scalable engineering practices

The skills you’ll bring include:

• Strong strategic orientation, identifying and synthesizing trends in the industry and altering course as required to capitalize on the right trends for the benefit of customers

• Demonstrated history of setting vision and influencing teams to accomplish that vision

• Technical expertise in cloud technologies and enterprise software

• Proven history of leading successful large-scale product releases to enterprise customers

• Executive presence and outstanding communication skills, both written and oral

• Deep cross-functional orientation, able to collaborate effectively and build support and alignment around goals and objectives

• Minimum of 10+ years engineering leadership experience with experience in security highly desired
