Job Description
JOB SUMMARY: The NASA SES III contract provides IT services throughout all aspects of the engineering process of the entire space systems arena. We are looking for a junior-Mid level Web Developer who values exploration, discovery, efficiency, and finding resolutions to complex issues. Our team supports NASA located at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), “home to the nation's largest organization of scientists, engineers and technologists who build spacecraft, instruments and new technology to study Earth, the sun, our solar system and the universe.” This task will support The Direct Readout Laboratory (DRL) which provides data acquisition and processing support to the Direct Broadcast (DB) community, whereby users around the world can directly receive satellite data without waiting for it to be officially distributed. As the EOS satellites Terra and Aqua enter end of life, DRL support for them is also ramping down. This is likely going to be hosted in the GSFC Mission Cloud Platform environment. Location: Remote position. Candidate must be able to support East Coast time zone and occasional visits to the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD if local.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- The candidate will create a reduced version of the existing DRL website per TM guidance consisting to the greatest extent possible of a series of static pages that conform to NASA Agency, OCIO, Web Modernization Team (WMT), and other applicable NASA standards and policies for a public facing web site; port the site into the TM designated host location (as of now the science.nasa.gov domain). None of the existing site's back-end infrastructure is expected to be reused.
- Maintain and update the web site as the TM and operational experience dictates.
- The ideal candidate must possess the ability to work independently, demonstrating strong self motivation, effective time management, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in order to successfully accomplish tasks and achieve project goals.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiency with HTML & CSS
- Experience with 508 Agency Standards
- Comfortable with command-line access to remote Linux systems
- Ability to work independently, self-sufficiently on assigned tasks
- Good written and oral communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience in JavaScript application development
- Knowledge of NGINX webserver administration on Linux
- Experience with PHP and/or MySQL
- Experience developing websites with current NASA tools (e.g., WordPress 6)
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-3 years of professional web development experience.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor's degree in related fields.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: U.S. Citizenship is required, and Section 508 (Agency Standards) is applicable. Ability to obtain required National Agency Check (NAC) clearance.
