ABOUT THE COLLEGE:

Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical, 15% Adult Basic Education, 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Information Technology Enterprise Server Group is responsible for providing tier 2 and higher support to the college faculty and staff.

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide complex incident resolution and a quick return to service for our end users. By applying your knowledge of IT principles, you'll provide installation and upgrade services for software. You'll also be responsible for 360-degree equipment lifecycle management, including installation, maintenance, and removal of surplus equipment.
  • Document incident reports provide case updates and communicate on IT incident status per departmental standards. Thus, ensuring that GRC customers have up-to-date information while waiting for their technical incident to complete.
  • Build, install, maintain classroom and lab audiovisual systems. Install internal components and program technology for the "teacher workstation" units using IT best practices and Extron-specific processes and equipment. Ensure that campus A/V operation inventory such as projector lamps are in stock and replaced on demand.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in developing long-term strategies for capacity planning to support desktop support requirements. In addition, provide essential project management for deployment-related projects such as classroom and lab technology refreshes. Finally, offer constructive feedback to project teams and adapt to changing requirements to drive the successful conclusion of GRC IT projects.
  • Investigate new desktop technology trends, consults with vendors, and stays current with product roadmaps to ensure standardization of frequently used technology within the campus community. This focus on standardization helps ensure the normalization of equipment and technology across the campus, reducing cost, complexity and providing a standardized experience for end-users.
  • You’ll participate in IT equipment purchasing, from recommending equipment. From writing up customer orders, facilitating equipment quotes, and providing feedback to our purchasing process, you will be integral to purchasing and deploying equipment for our students, faculty, and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or higher-level degree in computer science or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the IT support industry, preferably with increasing levels of responsibility within a medium to large scale organization.
  • Skilled in the diagnosis, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. Special focus on end-user facing technology such as PCs, peripherals, and related technology. Highly skilled in PC (and related peripheral) support. Should be conversant in Windows/Mac/IOS operating systems and related support needs.
  • Ability and desire to keep current on technology trends, and to learn new technology as systems become available.
  • Proven ability to resolve customer issues using active listening and problems solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to describe complex technical issues to college community members with varying degrees of technical skill.
  • Ability and desire to grow your IT skills and take on tasks of increasing responsibility.
  • Ability to use your excellent customer service skills to arrive at mutually beneficial solutions for our customers. Ones that benefit our customers while achieving the IT departments goals of continuous improvement.
  • Ability to provide support using both onsite, via email, and remote methodologies such as MS Teams and Zoom.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office 360 platform. The MS Office platform is used heavily at GRC and a working knowledge of the 360 suite is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM methodology
  • Comptia A+ Certification
  • IT certifications - Hardware and/or Software certifications
