Web Developer I
Job Description
Utah Valley University is currently seeking a Web Developer I! The Web Frontend/UI Developer works in collaboration with Web Architects and Web Programers to ensure that all UVU public and intranet web sites/systems are functioning correctly. They also work with departments across campus to support and develop web pages and systems based on department needs within campus standards. This position requires communication and technical skills along with some content related skills.
- Creates and maintains web pages, components, and sites using content management systems (CMS), raw code, scripts, and frameworks.
- Works with web teams to collaborate on web systems architecture and organization, Works with web tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, code editors, CMS backend, scripting languages, and others.
- Learns new software as needed.
- Maintains and improves customer service relationships with all members of campus including faculty, staff, and students for their web needs
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Sciences and three years web technology work experience OR combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Licenses or Certifications:
Successful completion of in-house certification directly related to position skills (within 60 days of hire).
Knowledge
- Experience with web design concepts (with a visual eye for design) and how front and backend technologies impact the design process.
- Experience with front-end solutions including HTML/CSS templates, responsive/adaptive design, JavaScript/jQuery and AJAX code and rich media production and integration.
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS template builds from design documentation for integration into interactive desktop and mobile websites, web applications and software based GUIs.
- Knowledge of code and design quality through the execution of test plans including cross-browser and cross-platform quality testing.
- Experience with documentation of user-centeric design methodologies, style guides, web standards, and web technologies/languages best practices.
- Experience with facilitating usability testing and review of usability testing results.
- Knowledge of web solutions using AJAX, PHP, XML, JSON, SOAP, etc..
