Your Role and Responsibilities
The MIT-IBM Watson AI lab is seeking outstanding early career researchers or students for a short-term position (3-6 months) to conduct research on Artificial Intelligence, including areas such as foundation models, machine common sense, and transfer learning. The job responsibilities include developing new AI and machine learning techniques, conducting experiments, developing prototype solutions to real-world problems, and publishing papers in top-quality conferences.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Background in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related fields
- Strong programming skills (at least 2 years of experience)
- Advanced skill level in solving analytical problems using rigorous and quantitative approaches (at least 2 years of experience)
- Experience with developing, training, and testing deep neural networks (at least 1 year of experience)
- A track record of clearly and effectively communicating research ideas via publications and presentations at top-tier AI conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR, ACL, etc.)
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
- Experience in analyzing data at scale from a variety of sources (at least 1 year of experience)
- Experience with machine learning tools and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch etc. (at least 2 years of experience)
- Experience with large language models or multi-modal foundation models. (at least 1 year of experience)

Location Statement
The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
