Salary Range: $81,385-$135,384

Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for providing analytical and technical support to the Transmission Planning organization particularly focusing on compliance with ERCOT requirements and NERC standards. Activities will involve performing and reviewing steady state & stability studies critical to complying with ERCOT guidelines and NERC standards as well as tracking deadlines throughout the year. Incumbent will also be heavily involved in future NERC standard audits & regulatory inquires.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Maintain and assist in the tracking of Transmission Planning regulatory standards, particularly focusing on the ERCOT protocols and guides.
- Perform steady-state and stability studies pertinent to Transmission Planning compliance requirements
- Be responsible for creating documents essential to compliance with NERC standards & guidelines.
- Actively participate in ERCOT & NERC workgroups and subcommittees and track upcoming changes to compliance requirements.
- Communicate and eventually train transmission planning engineers on ERCOT and NERC standard requirements.
- Perform all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Education, Experience, & Skills
The minimum education and experience requirements are:
- Engineer - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required with 2 years of electric utility experience preferred.
- Staff Engineer - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required with 4 years of electric utility experience preferred. Experience with ERCOT or NERC regulations is preferred.
- Senior Engineer –Professional Engineering license is required. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required with 6 years of electric utility experience preferred. Experience with ERCOT or NERC regulations is preferred.
The minimum skill requirements are:
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn Python & PSSE to run transmission planning simulations.
- Effective technical writing skills, and verbal, interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of the how the bulk electric system (BES) is designed and operated is preferred.
