About The Position
The Generation Monitoring and Data Analysis Engineer will provide monitoring of operating conditions of the Ameren Missouri Generation fleet, along with development of analytics and reporting of data to support business line customers and asset managers. Individuals in this position benefit from an understanding of power generation and ISO/RTO operations. Extensive use of data analytics and various software tools are involved in the execution of this work.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Utilize advanced pattern recognition software, PI data historian and trending tools, and other performance-based applications to monitor critical generation equipment and systems on a daily basis. Identify potential threats to equipment reliability and deviations from normal operations.
  • Develop and maintain models for the advanced pattern recognition application for generation equipment and systems.
  • Respond, evaluate and prioritize alerts generated by the advanced pattern recognition tools, and communicate critical alerts with Energy Center personnel for further investigation.
  • Communicate and interface with engineering and other subject matter experts as required to further assess equipment anomalies detected by the advanced pattern recognition software.
  • Identify and classify associated risks to equipment, systems, and energy production. Provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Utilize Business Intelligence (BI) software to create and manage analytics solutions that turn generation and market data into knowledge.
  • Configure BI tools to develop and maintain reporting tools to support wholesale market operations, fuel procurement and delivery activities, and generation performance awareness.
  • Develop models and formats for data visualization to support generation asset management decisions.
  • Write scripts to extract, configure, and load source data into useful formats for the end user, and accommodate customized data queries.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Two or more years of power generation experience and/or data analytics experience preferred, and two or more years of renewable generation experience preferred. Other relevant industrial experience may be considered.
  • Technical career path title and salary dependent upon individual credentials and position market pay level.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, and SharePoint required. Proficiency or on-the-job training to use PI/Processbook required.
  • Familiarity with data analytics software, advanced pattern recognition software, and business intelligence tools.
  • Good presentation skills in large group settings.
  • Ability to trend and analyze data to diagnose issues.
