This person will be collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, finance, quality, production, etc.) to evaluate design trade-offs, support producibility, drive commonality, and manage requirements flow down efficiently while aligning with Lockheed Martin Space overall procurement strategy, helping to reduce lead-time, and promote business objectives of resiliency, cost, cash, and growth.

This role will offer you the following daily challenges:

As a procurement engineer, you will partner with early lifecycle product design and development teams with responsibility for assessing bills of material for lead-time and commonality, plus providing opportunities and solutions to design teams to improve performance. The procurement engineer will be involved from the initial concept and focus on steering designs towards the lowest lead-time solutions & commonality across the enterprise. You will engage on a regular basis with a broad set of stakeholders including leadership during early program phases. Strong interpersonal skills, innovation, and willingness to respectfully challenge assumptions are critical. The candidate will be prepared to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment in which the best ideas regularly set the course of the team and Program.

  • Contribute to design reviews internally and customers acting as a liaison between LM procurement, manufacturing engineering, and design engineering to evaluate producibility, commonality, and requirements interpretation
  • Develop/steer/improve software tools to evaluate designs early in their lifecycle to realize downstream benefits in cost & lead-time reduction
  • Build robust tools/models/processes to expand beyond EEE parts and into all aspects of the supply chain
  • Catalogue and monitor EEE product category for configuration, design criteria, etc. to drive part number rationalization, maximize the number of suppliers available for competition, and facilitate next-generation product / Program improvements
  • Proactively engage the industrial base to expand the supplier pool and drive best practices and consistency with the sourcing strategies
