Jabil Defense and Aerospace is looking for an experience Lead Manufacturing Engineer to work on-site in our St. Petersburg, FL location. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will manage a team of about 10 people and will operate with a high level of efficiency, integrity, and enthusiasm, striving to achieve excellence in all endeavors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manufacturing Engineer team is operationally focused working closely with the Test and Quality Engineering leads in tandem with the Manufacturing Shift Lead to drive process test optimization, improvement and execution to plan.

The Manufacturing Engineering Lead shall lead and manage the Manufacturing Engineers and Machine Support Engineers coordinating day to day activities in support of the manufacturing plan.

Display expert knowledge of the corporate Manufacturing Engineering environment.

Share information on the corporate environment with the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) function.

Drive a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement throughout the Manufacturing Engineering function.

Display expert knowledge of the internal and external engineering environment.

Share information on the external environment with the ME function.

Drive efficiencies in current technical systems and manage the development of new technical systems.

Support the Engineering Manager in the evaluation and equipment needs for today and future needs.

Provide support to the engineering manager with labor forecasting and skill needs in line with new business requirements.

Create and review clear performance metrics and continuously monitor progress.

Effectively prepare for and perform employee performance 1 to 1’s throughout the year and annual reviews and working with employee to develop individual development and succession plans.

Support Business Development through assessing the needs of potential customers in conjunction with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Leads.

Provide effective tools and evaluation strategies to support Jabil’s quoting activity.

Provide expert problem solving and customer focused support to individual businesses.

Drive the Manufacturing Engineering function to provide existing customers with improved business solutions.

Proactively identify internal customer needs and drive “internal customer focus” mindset within Engineering teams.

Effectively cascade functional / business information and expectations.

Analyze and prioritize areas for Manufacturing Engineering improvement e.g. machine uptime, efficiency improvements.

Attend and lead in key internal and external meetings.

May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of conformal coatings and epoxies used in production environment (selection, requirement for set-up and EHS review, implementation).

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of fixture design and verification.

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of machine programming.

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of IQOQPQ philosophy.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Advanced PC skills, Microsoft Office Suite, Solidworks, and CAD.

Ability to communicate both verbal and written.

Ability to read and create visual aids (work instructions) and department procedures.

Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Ability to build and maintain effective Customer Relationships.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Discipline is required (or equivalent experience with demonstration of engineering concepts).

At least 8 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory or Lead experience is preferred

Experience with Conformal Coating and Surface Mount Technology preferred.
