Water / Wastewater Engineer
Inwood Consulting Engineers, Inc. has an excellent opportunity for a full-time entry-level water/wastewater engineer at our main office in Oviedo, Florida. This position includes various engineering work in the planning and design phases related to water and wastewater projects. The ideal candidate should have the ability to read plans and a basic knowledge of utility design concepts, principles, and theories. Work will be performed under the oversight of senior staff.
Essential Tasks
Research, collect, and review data for roadway and utility engineering projects, such as wastewater pump station design and upgrades
Prepare utility construction plans and assist with the design and permitting of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water pipelines
Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis of distribution water, reclaimed water distribution/transmission systems, and wastewater collection/transmission systems
Participate in constructability reviews, construction observation, field reviews, and preparation of field documentation
Identify potential utility conflicts by reviewing plans for roadway and drainage improvement projects
Assist with resolving utility conflicts through coordination with the Engineer of Record and Utility Agency Owners
Complete technical assignments that include planning, modeling, calculations, design, detailed cost estimates, specifications, and permitting
Aid in the preparation and submittal of Utility Certification/Clear Packages
Assist in the pursuit of new projects and other business development activities
Act as a backup to other staff in the Utilities group to perform related work as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
Prior practical experience performing engineering tasks for transportation projects or familiarity with FDOT and other municipal clients is a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with MicroStation or similar software
Ability to communicate technical information, demonstrate flexibility, and work well with others
Possess attention to detail, a positive attitude, and organizational and time management skills
