Background Details:
We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join a true agile development team in the midst of rejuvenating our web application portfolio in support of the Group Protection business that has expanded in recent years to cover the entire market of employers from large to small. This is a remote based role. This work ranges from enhancing existing capabilities with the utmost emphasis on the customer experience to adding new features and functionality that our customers truly desire. Our goal is to have the best web experience in the industry. All this while continuing to support and improve upon our own CI/CD pipeline (Atlassian) and cloud infrastructure (AWS). We strive to work with User Experience and Product Management in an effective relationship to drive frontend development and create customer-based solutions.

Lincoln Preparation Program (LPP) is a two-year development program designed to prepare high-performing, college graduates for strategic roles within our company. The goal is to accelerate the growth of associates within two years, providing them with the tools to take charge and further their career at Lincoln Financial Group. Program participants are placed within one business area for the entirety of the two-year program. At the end of the program, participants will have the option to stay on their current team or explore other open opportunities within the business.

What you'll be doing
- Constructing and implementing software within a full stack environment (Front end, API, persistence, integrations)
- Using JavaScript and React to build a modern front-end
- Leveraging Java and Spring Boot in building a reliable back-end
- Managing the full lifecycle of web application development; from designing, writing, testing, building, deploying, to monitoring
- Using tools such as Atlassian (Bitbucket, Bamboo, JIRA, Confluence), New Relic, and Slack, to drive operations and collaboration
- Practicing and driving engineering practices such as DevOps (CI/CD; you build it, you own it), 12-factor design, and independent architecture
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
- Rising senior or recent graduate
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Experience with JavaScript and React
Nice-to-haves:
- Advanced experience with JavaScript and React
- Advanced experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with microservice design (Service-Oriented Architecture) and RESTful web services
- Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Delivery and DevOps
Level: P1
Pay Range: $75,000 per year
Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
