We are seeking a full-time
Senior Compliance Engineer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing compliance leadership and project planning to ensure EMC, safety and radio transmitter compliance across multiple Garmin locations, throughout the product development process.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
- Partners with the Product Development teams on the delivery of superior products for automotive, marine, outdoor recreation and sports and fitness.
- Creates and implements complex regulatory compliance plans covering international certification requirements for Garmin product
- Understands international standards application to technologies such as BT/WLAN/NFC/VHF/GNSS/etc.
- Applies requirements defined by the FCC, ISED, EU and other international regulatory bodies to Garmin product designs
- Contributes to in depth regulatory and standards research on new technologies and geographic markets
- Displays excellence in project management (identifying critical milestones, gating items and priorities, determining deadlines for deliverables on critical path, and communicating to cross-functional team members)
- Independently determines general approach and specific solutions to compliance problems, offers process improvements, and authors new procedures as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Understands production and operations issues as they relate to compliance engineering
- Experience reviewing EMC and safety design aspects of electrical/mechanical design and PCB layout
- Ability to explain and document regulatory and standards requirements such as ETSI, EN, FCC, ISED and other international regulatory requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in and can communicate advanced concepts in EMC and Product Safety
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Use of RF test instrumentation including Spectrum Analyzers
- RF test experience in wireless technologies BT/WLAN/NFC/LTE/5G
- Experience testing to international standards in RF/SAR/EMC/Safety
- iNARTE, or similar, professional certification in EMC and/or Product Safety
- Design for EMC experience
- Participation on a standards-writing committee
- Previous work experience with circuit design for consumer or aviation products
