POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a full-time position in the FDLE Fort Myers office. To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Conducting forensic field triage involving previewing and/or imaging of digital evidence stored on computer systems and other digital storage media outside of the FDLE Digital Evidence Labs;
  • Providing analysis of forensically recovered digital evidence for criminal investigations;
  • Procuring, maintaining, utilizing, and validating forensic digital imaging and forensic previewing hardware and software;
  • Keeping all equipment up to date with the latest forensic software and firmware updates;
  • Maintaining a digital evidence review facility, if appropriate, within the regional operations center;
  • Maintaining a mobile forensic computer lab vehicle for child abduction response team call outs, in the execution of search warrants and other criminal investigation activities; and
  • Assisting with the search and seizure of digital evidence on crime scenes, search warrants, and other criminal investigative activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from an accredited college or university in computer forensics, computer engineering, information technology, computer science, cyber security or other related degree; or
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in the area of digital investigations, computer forensics, mobile device forensics, computer systems analysis, networking or repair and maintenance of computers.
  • Experience conducting digital forensics, network management or computer security can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of network security and computer intrusion techniques;
  • Knowledge of current technologies, trends, and techniques;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint);
  • Possess strong written and oral communications skills;
  • Possess strong problem solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and aptitude for working with computer systems, managing applications, computer networks and mobile device technologies;
  • Ability to testify in court regarding forensic techniques utilized, evidence management procedures, and data recovered;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to understand and follow established policies, procedures, and industry best practices when conducting a mobile device or computer forensic examination;
  • Ability to perform technical troubleshooting;
  • Ability to utilize hardware and software and perform data analysis; and
  • Ability to read technical publications and apply knowledge obtained from the publications.

BASE SALARY:

  • $60,000.00

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.


NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
