Job Description
Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
Situated on the outskirts of South Carolina, Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is located approximately 20 minutes from Augusta, Georgia (home of the annual Master’s Tournament) and 30 minutes from Fort Gordon (home of the new US Army Cyber Command). The complex is one-hour away from Columbia, South Carolina and within a three-hour radius of Charleston, South Carolina, and many of the coastal beaches. Aiken is known for its famous thoroughbred horses, southern hospitality, growing community, thriving school district, numerous parks and golf courses, great weather, spacious avenues, and historical large and impressive homes.
Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking an Electronics Designer with electronic design and/or printed circuit board (PCB) design experience to join a dynamic team to work with Engineers using CAD software for the Savannah River Site, DOE complex and national security missions.

Basic Education Qualifications
Associate Degree in Engineering Graphics or Industrial Drafting with experience using PTC Creo, Microstation, OrCad, and/or Altium software.

Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking an Electronics Designer with electronic design and/or printed circuit board (PCB) design experience to join a dynamic team to work with Engineers using CAD software for the Savannah River Site, DOE complex and national security missions.
The ideal candidate will be capable of:
- Capturing a schematic in a CAD tool and translate the schematic to a circuit board design by understanding and gathering matching footprints.
- Interpreting electronic sketches or drawings submitted by an electrical engineer. Generate schematic symbols or footprints from data sheets.
- Maintaining in-house electronic symbol and footprint libraries.
- Designing and complying with in-house procedures and standards.
- Generating files for sending designs to circuit board fabricators and providing quality control for receipt of fabricated circuit boards.
- Knowledgeable of producing electronic block, connection, interconnection, and schematic diagrams.
- Knowledge and experience using OrCad and Microstation CAD tools for developing diagrams is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience designing chassis and component rack assemblies.
- Knowledge and experience CREO cad tool is a plus for accomplishing this.
- Ability to provide record documentation per in-house procedures and guidelines for drawings.
- Experience with Altium is a plus.

- Proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption authorization will be required for employment at SRNL.
