Job Description
Synthesizes customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledges technical, schedule and cost constraints. Develops and directs preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing systems. Coordinates integrated testing activities. Reviews and evaluates test requirements to insure completeness of test program. Performs technical analysis of complete systems and prepares comprehensive system level evaluations.

This position is intended for candidates seeking a career opportunity within E25 Test Engineering. The candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing Data Acquisition Systems (DAS) and instrumentation in support of mechanical and electrical system testing aboard nuclear powered Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. The candidate will use their engineering knowledge and experience to acquire and evaluate shipboard test data that will assure ship systems performance meets all technical and contractual requirements. This involves interacting and collaborating with a variety of internal and external customers to execute an integrated test plan that prioritizes safety and quality, but also accounts for schedule and cost. This position is a good opportunity for a candidate interested in hands on engineering experience with shipboard systems.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience OR Master’s degree and 0 years’ experience OR PDP apprentice certificate and 1 year of engineering experience. Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Preferred Qualifications
The candidate should have experience in computer software development, DAS hardware selection and design, temporary system development, control system design, PLCs, and electrical troubleshooting. Specialized knowledge and experience in both general instrumentation and computer based data acquisition is desired. Specifically experience with National Instruments' LabVIEW software is desired.
