The Boeing Company is seeking an experienced software developer to join our team as Associate Level Software Engineer – Platform (Remote) for our Boeing Platform Team. In this role, you will develop, deploy, and maintain next generation Linux Operating Systems for Safety-Critical and non-Safety critical applications. Software Engineers will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Systems Engineers, Testers, business leaders, and customers to design and build new OS features. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.
Position Responsibilities:
Assists with the development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems
Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
Assists with test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
Supports software project management and software supplier management functions
Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics
Performs software research and trade studies
Troubleshoots software issues
Works under general supervision
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Required Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering field or computer science
5+ Years professional development experience in any combination of the following languages – C, C++, Java, c#, python
2+ Years professional experience projects related to open embedded or kernel modules programming
Experience in kernel and/or driver development
2+ Years professional experience in open source software
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working with and contributing to Open Source Software (OSS)
Familiarity of testing tools such as Linaro, KUnit
Experience in Linux operating system, OS schedulers, filesystems, memory management
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master)
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
