Corteva Agriscience is pleased to announce a current opening for the position of Facilities Run Plant Engineer at our Indianapolis facility. At Corteva Agriscience, you will help us grow what’s next. Under the supervision of the Facility Services & Real Estate Engineering (FS&RE) Leader, the Facility Engineer is responsible to provide engineering support for site operations to ensure safe and reliable operation of the facilities located at Indianapolis. The facility engineer is to lead project identification and execution for FS&RE supported projects. At this experience level the facility engineer will typically lead small to intermediate sized projects locally or regionally to support FS&RE improvements and maintenance.

As a part of an empowered team, the qualified candidate must communicate and collaborate well within a diverse working environment which includes scientists, lab personnel, contractors, managers, and internal skilled craftsman personnel. Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a group as necessary is essential for success in this position.

While this position is located at the Global Headquarters in Indianapolis, you will have the flexibility of working 2 days per week remotely.

  • Provide technical expertise to site operations on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Provide project engineering support to project managers on capital projects for FS&RE.
  • Collaborate with multi-functions within FS&RE, R&D, and Site Operations to develop improvement opportunities for new projects.
  • Provide project support for Reliability focused projects.
  • Perform project development with key stakeholders.
  • Provide overall planning and organization during the design and construction of FS&RE projects.
  • Coordinate all design engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Lead the project execution planning including contracting strategy development.
  • Analyze project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Drive project execution and take corrective action to ensure the project goals are met.
  • Deliver as-built and operations/maintenance documentation to the facility.
  • Execute engineering work orders from planning through execution.
  • Closely follow jobs to ensure safety and quality expectations are met.
  • Provide technical support and involve site SMEs and supplier/vendors as needed for projects.
  • Provide technical support for specification, identification and purchasing of needed
  • Provide expertise on failures during root cause investigations.
  • Work closely with the site’s EH&S delivery team to ensure projects and engineering work orders are completed safely.
  • Other duties as become necessary to support company goals and/or projects.

Qualifications

Requirements:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering is required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience in a R&D or Industrial facility. Change management experience is required.
  • Strong aptitude and desire for innovation and operational excellence.
  • Excellent communication skills, organizational and work coordination skills, and interpersonal skills are also critical to role success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding infrastructure and buildings systems including but not limited to Site utilities, Security, Office Buildings, R&D buildings, Environmental Buildings, Insectary, R&D Greenhouses, and a vast variety of Agricultural Research laboratories.
  • Individuals must be self-motivated, have demonstrated personal initiative, have excellent organization skills, and a strong work ethic.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Interested in learning new skills, gaining knowledge of Corteva business processes, and investigating new technologies to support curing-edge projects.
  • Experience with experimental design.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in the agriculture industry is preferred.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
