The Defense Group at Leidos, supporting the Overlord / Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel (M/OUSV) Program, is seeking a Reliability, Maintainability and Availability (RMA) Engineer to support a dynamic high growth organization. The M/OUSV program is based in Port Hueneme, CA, and is responsible for delivering cutting edge autonomous vessel technology to the US Navy. The program operates and maintains prototype autonomous vessels for test and evaluation of the vessels as well as developing operations, maintenance, logistics and training procedures for the autonomous Fleet of the future.

The successful applicant will utilize RMA data / models and Mil-Standards to perform reliability predictions, failure reporting, analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) assessments to accurately analyze component failures and identify trends. This position may participate in cross-functional Failure Review Boards to identify, assess, and recommend corrections of root cause failures. When on-site in Port Hueneme the RMA Engineer may perform engineering, installation, operational testing, and integration of equipment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize project plans; perform gap analysis and field mapping; develop reports and queries to address needs identified in gap analysis; communicate with stakeholders, and train team members on software and approaches.

  • Perform data collection and compilation of fleet, depot and customer data to support development of each system’s failure management strategy.

  • Identify, develop, prioritize, and coordinate day-to-day RMA work-load requirements and assignments.

  • Perform analysis of reliability requirements and goals, construct models, and analyze product design for reliability and performance for maritime autonomous Platforms.

  • Monitor and assess RMA impacts to system readiness to ensure asset and readiness goals established by customer.

  • Provide engineering and configuration management support to ensure active systems and equipment remain operational and maintainable; inoperable systems and equipment are returned to an operational condition; and new systems are brought to an operational and maintainable condition.

  • Implement approved engineering project task requirements to include engineering and/or integration of system modification, reconfigurations, and testing.

  • Coordinate equipment relocation support to include cost analysis, optimization studies, engineering studies, integration, testing, and installation in support of range growth or other requirements.

  • Provide inoperative systems support to include engineering actions necessary to return equipment/systems to operational status.

  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Logistics stakeholders to develop autonomous vessel sustainment plans and procedures.

  • Provide contractually required data and status reports to the Program Manager for review.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related scientific field and 2+ years of related experience in Fleet Management, Product Support Engineering, or Quality Assurance.

  • Knowledge in Reliability & Maintainability Metrics

  • Ability to interface and coordinate program activities with other technical disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

  • Experience with reliability analysis, failure investigations, and/or root cause/corrective action (RCCA)

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • US Citizenship is required to start with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience on maritime platforms or autonomous vessels / vehicles / aircraft.

  • Working understanding of CRAMS concept (cost, reliability, availability, manufacturability, serviceability) and procedure generation

  • ASQ Reliability Engineer Certification

  • Ability to effectively work within a multi-functional and diverse team.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $54,600.00 - $84,000.00 - $113,400.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
