Are you our next Strategic Capital Engineering Manager?
The Capital Engineering manager provides leadership for project management requirements for strategic, time sensitive high ranking capital projects for the North America Business / Phosphate Business unit. The role also includes managing projects in addition to leading project engineers managing projects for the department. This position will work with internal and external stakeholders and business unit managers through the planning, engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction phases of a capital project and will ensure safe, under budget and timely execution of projects. The Capital Engineering Manager will enforce adherence to the Mosaic Capital Project Management Process (CPM) for managing projects and ensure that all projects utilize robust metrics such as quantity surveying to control cost and schedule for projects. In addition to the technical aspects of the role, the manager will participate in mentorship, coaching and development of project engineers in the team to support employee engagement and growth opportunities at Mosaic.
What will you do?
  • Project scoping: Working with the Project Managers and stakeholders: ensure that project managers seek feedback from all stakeholders in preparation of a detailed scope of work with clear objectives to meet the customer requirements for performance, schedule, and cost. Ensure project teams perform field verification and confirm information about existing equipment as applicable to ensure an accurate design and proper integration with the existing facilities.   • Planning: Lead the Project Planning and Engineering group assigned to develop labor, equipment and material estimates and construction sequence to facilitate development of project schedules and budgets. Provide input based on experience to management to ensure front end planning is sound and that realistic expectations for construction timelines are being set. Collaborate on planning of projects and coordinate efforts and resources with relevant departments.
  • Procurement: Lead the Project Management and Purchasing team assigned to support the tender process: lead bid meetings and bid clarifications.
  • Budget and Planning: Manage capital budget in conjunction with site leadership teams. Collaborate on creating future year forecasts and execute front end engineering and scoping to create an accurate forecast.
  • People Management: Coach and develop team members to become effective project managers.
  • EHS Stewardship: Enforce compliance with Mosaic’s EHS policies throughout the various phases of the project, from design through construction and startup.
  • Project / Department Resource Requirements: Ensure that the projects are adequately staffed to be managed properly. Work with Department Leader / Director, HR / Recruiting and Third-Party Organizations as needed to recruit talent for managing projects.
What do you need for this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (prefer Mechanical and Chemical)
  • 10+ years of Engineering / Project Management experience (prefer 10- 15+ years)
  • Experience in managing large and complex process heavy / chemical capital projects
  • P.E. and/ or PMP certifications preferred
  • Must have knowledge in: MS Office suite (skilled at preparing / presenting power point presentations for various management updates), Engineering software, SAP/Maximo, Fieldglass; ability to interpret & understand Primavera P6 & Microsoft Project Schedules
