In this position, you will provide assistance in testing and verification activities on a range of assignments in the ELIS Low Voltage switch gear system in Pinetops, North Carolina. You will be responsible for internal and external testing of electrical distribution products. Testing will be focused on instrumentation transformers, cut out fuses and switches. Testing will be for both low voltage and medium voltage products. Testing projects will require coordination with R&D product development teams and factory quality teams to define test requirements. Testing projects will follow ISO 17025 practices for verification and reporting of test results. Candidate will also support overall vision for test processes and test equipment. Candidate will support continuous improvement in test procedures and work instructions.

Your responsibilities
- Support the product development teams and factory as the test expert
- Be familiar with the test standards and the test equipment
- Work with teams to develop detail test plans based on standards and requirements
- Set up test objects and equipment to safely execute high voltage and high current testing
- Understand and verify test results
- Write and issue professional test reports detailing test results
- Create and maintain new test equipment and fixtures to improve efficiency of testing
- Interface with Quality teams and factory on corrective actions
- Interface with other ABB functions and labs to ensure proper testing has been completed
- Provide technical support and testing for existing products, including analyzing field failures and production failures
- Maintain thorough understanding of products and standards
- Maintain test equipment required for testing and validation
Your background
- 4 year degree in electrical engineering with 5 years of relevant experience
- Working knowledge of IEEE C37.20.1, C37.60 and C37.61, C37.09
- Working knowledge of IEC 62271-100 and IEC 62271-111 standards
- Strong interpersonal skills required to achieve cooperation and reach agreement with internal and external customers and suppliers
- Experienced in planning and executing projects
- Must be self motivated with a high level of creativity
- Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment
- Position requires domestic and international travel
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
