Position Title: Technician Apprentice

Department: Service

Reports to: Service Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Assists the technician in vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned in accordance with dealer and factory standards.

Train and prepare to become a certified factory technician with company sponsored factory training.

A career path will be provided to help apprentice reach benchmarks and goals to increase his/her skills.

Each apprentice technician will be assigned to a senior technician to learn and train hands on with the guidance of a team leader

Tools are provided.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assists the technician in the following areas (other duties may be assigned):

Receive repair orders from dispatcher and perform repair

Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards

Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair

Communicate with Parts Department to obtain needed parts

Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer

Advise service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the time promised

Document work performed

Road-test vehicles when required and to quality-check work performed

Attend training classes

Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins

Ensure that customers’ vehicles are kept clean Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations, such as those governing the disposal of hazardous wastes

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education & Experience:
Six months to one year related technical training and/or experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as repair orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively communicate one-on-one with customers or employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight, volume and distance measurements

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, & Registration:
Current, valid, driver’s license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) are required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
