We are looking for a Staff Technical Learning Engineer to join the VMware Learning team to drive key learning initiatives focused on creating instructor videos, technical portfolio leadership, and enhancing the VMware learning community. In this role, your deep subject matter expertise in VMware products and solutions, matched with your passion to impact the success of our customers, will be critical as you engage with key stakeholders including business owners, product management, designers, curators, developers, and external partners as a technical learning engineer in support our digital learning strategy.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Engage with key business stakeholders to and lead projects focused on the design, curation, development, and delivery of learning assets aligned to the digital learning strategy.
  • Build strong relationships and manage stakeholders while working in a fast-paced, matrixed, global environment.
  • As a subject matter expert in vSphere and vSAN, provide technical portfolio leadership by providing guidance on how to evolve the vSphere and vSAN learning portfolios.
  • Record highly engaging instructional videos that align to the VMware vSphere and vSAN portfolios for digital learning customers.
  • Create and execute projects which create and enhance community engagement.
  • Demonstrate capability to execute with autonomy while achieving project and business objectives.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Build relationships and partnerships with our key internal stakeholders and external partners to determine audience, content, and delivery requirements that optimize customer outcomes.
  • Partner with various VMware business units to maintain technical skills and maintain knowledge of industry and technology trends, VMware solutions, and validated architectures.
  • Serve as a staff technical learning advisor to VMware Learning leadership by analyzing customer feedback, product KPIs, and actionable analysis to enable educated decision-making and process improvement.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on all vSphere and vSAN products in the VMware portfolio, providing technical direction for learning content designs and the evolution of the learning portfolio.
  • Consult with content developers on course design documents to ensure courses will meet intended customer outcomes and provide sign-off on all customer-facing course designs.
  • Work with content development team to ensure courseware and labs meet customer technical outcome goals and are both technically accurate and audience appropriate.
  • Provide customer support for escalations related to learning content, labs, or learning product defects.
  • Leverage student feedback to facilitate and enable continuous learning asset improvement and updates to existing offerings.
  • Work with portfolio and product management as a product and technology SME to assist in key decisions regarding portfolio evolution.
  • Instructional delivery of course material by various mediums including live classroom (Instructor- Led), virtual and video including beta-test delivery of newly developed courses.
  • Enable and scale the VMware learning partner channel by creating Train-the-Trainer materials as appropriate.
  • Engage the VMware learning and certifications community through various activities including podcasts, original video content, study-groups, and so on.

Preferred / Required Qualifications?

  • Must be a VMware Certified Instructor (VCI) in good standing.
  • Must be certified to deliver courses in the VMware vSphere and vSAN portfolios including vSphere, vSphere+, vSAN and vSAN+.
  • VMware Certified Professional and VMware Certified Advanced Professional certifications preferred.
  • Prior work experience with VMware vSphere products and networking solutions including VMware validated designs.

Remote: This role is fully remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from the location you feel most productive and comfortable. You will be expected to live within 0-3 time zones of the primary location.
