Honeywell’s Advance and Applied Technology operation is seeking a Principal Navigation Scientist to join the Navigation and Autonomy group located in Plymouth Minnesota. Our group is a world leader in navigation research for next generation navigation products. Navigation and filtering (sensor fusion) is our core competency, alternate (GPS denied) navigation is an area of strategic focus. Technologies developed will be applied to products in commercial, defense, aviation, and space markets on both existing and new emerging platforms. Our solutions enable a variety of piloted and non- piloted vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with R&D teams to develop technology from TRL1- 6
  • Contributions will include a mix of technology contributor, technology lead, team lead, principle investigator, program manager, as the project need indicates
  • Work flow ranges from ideation, problem solving, researching state of art, to simulation, analysis, and finally system development and test (TRL 6 flight test or ground test)
  • You will be expected to help pursue and win government and industry contracts (DARPA, AFRL, DOD, commercial, etc.).
  • You will be expected to ideate, collaborate, develop, secure and execute internal projects
  • Attend conferences, write papers, write proposals (be part of a proposal team)
  • Conduct advanced and applied research (develop TRL0-6 or7). Support product (TRL9) teams as needed

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Masters degree in Aerospace, Autonomy, Navigation, or Controls
  • At least 5 years of experience in the following areas: navigation (strapdown navigation), estimation and filtering (Kalman filter, EKF, UKF, particle filters, etc.)
  • Experience with GPS/INS blended navigation systems
  • Strong simulation and analytical skills
  • Experience implementing or enhancing GPS/INS with alternate aiding modes

WE VALUE

  • PHD in Aerospace, Autonomy, Navigation, or Controls
  • Previous experience with alternate (GPS denied navigation) approaches can include vision aided nav, celestial aided, magnetic anomaly, other modalities
  • It is preferred that the candidate has the experience which involves with implementing or enhancing GPS/INS with at least one other aiding modality
  • Systems engineering background involving development, testing, flight or ground testing of prototype advance navigation systems
  • Computer skills: MATLAB, Python, C/C++, AI/Neural net tools
